Eligibility
Film Types: We accept narrative features, short films, documentaries, animated films, experimental films, music videos, and scripts.
Premiere Status: While premiere status is not mandatory, priority may be given to Italian or European premieres.
Completion Date: Films must have been completed after January 1, 2022 to qualify for the festival.
Submission Guidelines
Formats: Digital submissions are accepted in MP4 format or via a secure online link. Physical submissions (USB drives or hard drives) will not be accepted.
Languages: Films not in Italian or English must have English subtitles. Italian-language films are encouraged to include English subtitles to enhance accessibility.
Entry Fees: All submissions must include payment of the appropriate entry fee. There are no refunds for disqualified or withdrawn entries.
Film Lengths
Narrative Feature: 60 minutes or more.
Short Film: 45 minutes or less.
Documentary Feature: 60 minutes or more.
Documentary Short: 45 minutes or less.
Music Video: Up to 10 minutes.
Scripts: Feature-length and short scripts are accepted across all genres.
Selection Process
Evaluation Criteria: Films and scripts will be judged on creativity, storytelling, technical quality, originality, and impact. We are particularly interested in works that push artistic boundaries or offer new perspectives.
Notification: Filmmakers and writers will be notified of their selection status via email. Please ensure the contact information provided during submission is accurate.
Screening & Awards
Screening Formats: Films selected for screening must be provided in MP4 or DCP format.
Awards: We present awards in various categories, including Best Feature, Best Short, Best Documentary, Best Music Video, Best Script, and Best Director, along with Jury and Audience Choice awards.
Rights & Permissions By submitting your film or script, you confirm that:
You own all necessary rights to the content or have secured proper licenses, permissions, and clearances.
You grant Milan International Film Week the right to screen your film during the festival, and use clips or images for promotional purposes.
Final Considerations
The festival reserves the right to alter the dates or venue. All selected films and scripts must comply with the technical and legal requirements of the festival.
